Bob was on fire this afternoon in Santa Barbara.  Not from the well known 1979 show at the Santa Barbara County Bowl released officially, this show took place on Haile Selassie’s birthday. Bob starts of the show by saying “Jah Rastafari! Jah Rastafari! And as you know that today is the 23rd of July, the month of Judah, which is his Majesty’s birthday inna Babylon, y’all!” then busts out an extremely rare live version of Sun is Shining, which I think was only played one other time in Lennox, Mass in 1978.  Some say it was played at the Apollo in 1979 but I have seen no documentation of that.

There is a certain fire about Bob during this performance, possible do to being the next day after his last live appearance with long time friend Peter Tosh.  Or maybe it was the heat of this upper 90’s day in Santa Barbara, what ever it was Nesta gave a wicked performance which included a 10 min. Exodus, not so common Kaya live, and a super lively version of Lively Up Yourself to close the show.

I have read there is about 5 minutes of silent footage of this show.  Since it is such a small clip, I would hope it would makes its way to youtube or in a documentary soon since there can’t really be big pay day for it. 5 minutes of silent footage, come on lets see it who ever has it!
